A sweet, sweet song by Mélanie Pain, who is no more the one she was when she was 20. No need for more introduction, enjoy the song :)

Young Electro-Pop band Pony Pony Run Run began their adventure in 2005, with a MGMT-like sound, and have been successful in France since. This 2009 song was one of the ‘Summer Hits’ in France, and I hope it will indeed bring some sun in your Thursday :) Take care!

Today, we celebrate French-Italian friendship with this song by In-Grid! Despite being Italian, she sang the overwhelming majority of her songs in French. This one is very catchy, and brings that dancing itch in you…a lovely tune according to me, I wonder why it hasn’t been more popular! Anyways, enjoy! And Viva Italia :D

Maxime Le Forestier (real first name Bruno), is a French singer who spent most of his early carrier playing the songs of Brassens and Moustaki, borrowing the guitar as a main instrument in the process. Here is one of his most notable songs, San Francisco, where he dreams of his times as a hippie in said city.

A very nice and melancholic take on love, past and future, in this song by Kaolin. Partons-vite, ‘let’s leave quick’, plays the transition between these related subjects, and the hummings, the repeted pattern and motives, touch a sensitive chord that makes us want to listen to it again. A nice pop effort, the only noticeable one from this band so far. What do you think? :)

Phoenix is one of the best exported French band of the past 10 years. They have that right amount of songs that are just too awesome to forget, skillfully conjugating pop-rock with experimental, unique and at the same familiar. Ha! I can’t describe them in so few words, I’ll let you make your own opinion :) For those who are interested in more, you should start with the album ‘United’, from which this song was taken.

Today’s FSAD was submitted by a sweet and beautiful lady, so you’ll understand that I had to change the schedule and put it straight away! Back to the song…Difficult to believe that this strong voice comes from this little girl! Probably the Edith Piaf syndrome? This festive and rebellious tune was a hit in France in 2010. And now is your turn to vote if it’s a hit on FSAD ;)

Didier Malherbe & Eric Lohrer, both Parisian Jazz musicians, produced a charmingly smooth world-jazz album in 2011, Eric Lohrer at the guitar and Didier Malherbe at the Duduk. The beautiful combination of strings and wind is sublimed by the wood that composes both instruments, giving a mellow and natural sound to mellow and natural music. A definite 2011 favorite of mine. Tell me what you think!

Stéphane Sanseverino’s songs mix dry and caustic humour with the impressive rythmic guitars that made Django Rheinhardt, his idol, a worldwide sensation. This song, which tackles with sleeping politicians and their fantasms, is a good representative of his works. Check him out for more :)

In their second album, Express Way, the Marseillais duet of Troublemakers surpassed their experimental endeavours to focus on a sound, both more conventionnal and more charming. A good example in this “Groovy” title, that came out on Blue Note Records, the label that hosted Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Count Basie, Charlie Parker, and countless other Jazz giants.

Georges Brassens was not only one of all time’s French favorite singer, he was also arguably one of the best humoured and kindest of them all. His linguistically incorrect (read: he swears a lot, but in a nice way) songs emphasize deep human values in a light tone, and with a light fingertouch. He is also one of the first french artist to use the guitar as a main instrument. Please watch the youtube video, it is worth it :)

Here are the lyrics WITH TRANSLATION. It’s a beautiful song with interesting writing, I can only strongly suggest you to check them out :) It will open in a new window so the song will keep playing.

Will this song bring some sun on this monday? I sure hope so. With his southern accent and warm guitars, Christophe Maé is a good candidate for the job. And if it wasn’t to happen, I hope it will at least bring a smile to your face :) Have a nice Monday!

This soft ballad sounds exactly like a Sunday evening to me. And yes, it’s a French band, despite the singer being American :) Let’s have something happier tomorrow, ok? Until then, take good care of yourself!

Some smooth electro-jazz cover of one of all time favourite Staying Alive. French band Electro Deluxe instills some deep jazzy-funk in this tune, with major instrumental help, and little sample help. What do you think? Is this cover refreshing, or unnecessary? Definitely refreshing to me! Have a nice Saturday :)
